You guys – I am SO excited to officially announce the launch of The Motivated Millennial Series! This is a passion project I’ve been dreaming of, and it’s finally coming to fruition!

Starting this spring, each month I will interview a motivated millennial woman who has decided to pave her own way and pursue her dream career!

I believe we all have a choice each and every day to live a life we deserve. With focus, hard work and perseverance, it IS possible to pursue your dreams.

Each one of these women’s stories is full of inspiration that I hope you will be able to find energy from. These ladies are all such strong, kind, unique, and passionate individuals.

I’m SO excited to share our first motivated millennial in this series! She’s a super cute, casual and creative fashion and lifestyle blogger, Brooke Schulmeister.

Brooke started blogging over the past year and has gained a following very quickly. Her amazing aesthetic, affordable finds, new home decor, and super sweet personality has allowed her to make a name for herself in the ultra-competitive blogging space!

I just know ya’ll are going to LOVE reading this natural beauty’s story:

Tell us about yourself 🙂

HI! I’m Brooke Schulmeister, I’m 27 years old and grew up in McKinney, TX. I live in the DFW area with my husband and I am a full time nurse, with a fashion/lifestyle blog on the side. I love spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and all things fitness and health.

What made you decide to start your journey as a blogger/entrepreneur/business owner?

I love fashion and finding affordable, everyday pieces. I would always get questions on my outfits or where I shopped, so I decided to start a blog. I share (mostly) affordable clothing items, great deals and sales, and everyday casual outfits. It’s a fun hobby and only that (at the moment). I love my everyday job and have a flexible schedule so this blog is a fun side hobby that has also given me a chance to make a small side income. Maybe one day, it can be a part-time job.

What has been your biggest win so far?

My biggest “win” so far would have to be the followers I’ve influenced. I love receiving messages or pictures from someone who bought something because they saw it on my page or saw me wearing it. Especially when they love it and recommend it to other friends of theirs. When I started this blog, one of my main goals was to inspire others to try outfits they normally wouldn’t, while sharing pictures of everyday, casual looks for others to (hopefully) try themselves.

What has been your biggest lesson learned?

Biggest lesson learned-have fun. Nothing huge is going to happen overnight, unless you just get lucky. I won’t lie, some days I compare the amount of likes/followers I get one day versus another, and it’s so silly. I post the pictures I do because I like the outfit, feel good in it, usually found it on sale, and feel proud about that and want to share it with others! This is a fun hobby for me at the moment and I want it to always be.

What inspires you to keep going every day? Especially on the bad days?

All of my followers. It may not be a lot to some, but it is to me. Anytime someone compliments an item of clothing and shares it on their stories, I am motivated to continue posting. This is the sole reason I started this blog, so if they do just that, my goal has been fulfilled. My husband, family and friends are also so so supportive.

Who are your biggest role models?

If I had to choose, I’d say Arielle Charnas (SomethingNavy). I have followed her ever since she started her blog (I think about 8 years ago?) and I just loved her everyday style. Some things are a little different than things I’d choose for myself, but I love her passion for fashion. Her blog has been SO successful and now she has her own clothing line at Nordstrom. She is my favorite blogger and is part of the reason I started my own. A dream of mine is to start some type of clothing line one day, whether it be loungewear, casual sweaters/tops or workout attire.

What advice would you give to someone like yourself – the girl who wants more, to do something for herself, but is afraid to get started?

Just go for it, but always have fun with it. I was so nervous to start a blog. I waited and waited and finally, after about two years of sitting on the idea, I just did it. And I received more positive feedback than I ever thought I would! Now, people are not only reaching out for fashion advice, but for other passions of mine-working out, cooking, and everyday lifestyle. I get to share my ideas with so many people and I love that others love/use them too! You never know who you are going to influence.

What’s the best way to keep up with you?

Instagram (brooke_schul). My blog can be found at www.brookeschul.com. I check Instagram daily, while I only check my blog 1-2 times a week.
